The Kolonnaden Bar is an educational project by the Department of Education, Outreach, and Visitor Services of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. Since 2017, this format has been inviting people to establish connections between museum topics and current socially relevant themes at one of the city’s most beautiful locations during the summer.
Located in the Kolonnadenhof in front of the Alte Nationalgalerie/Museum Island at Bodestraße 1-3, 10178 Berlin, the Kolonnaden Bar will be open every Thursday from 29th June 2023 for five weeks, starting at 7:00 PM. Moderated discussions, DJ sets, and refreshing drinks promise a delightful summer evening in the Kolonnadenhof, right by the Spree River.
The grand opening, part of the Berlin Summer Festival, will commence on 29th June 2023, starting at 5:00 PM, including a dance performance by the Flying Steps.
Each evening, the Kolonnaden Bar Talk will begin at 7:00 PM. Admission is free, and the events will take place even in case of rain as the Kolonnaden on Museum Island Berlin are weather-protected.
This year, the focus will be on themes such as sports, dance, and movement. Moderated by journalist Julia Vismann, art historians, archaeologists, directors, sports photographers, quantum physicists, cycling experts, and actors will establish connections between art and other disciplines.
After the talks, DJs will take the stage.
Admission is free.
